the wisdom of action: beyond words and ego

An old proverb suggests that those who speak lack knowledge, but this notion contains a paradox, for even its author imparts a teaching. The true essence lies in those who demonstrate wisdom through action, guiding by example rather than mere words. These individuals bear the responsibility of verbalizing lessons of universal compassion, liberating minds from suffering born of ego-driven desires.

The concept of ego is often misconstrued as erasable, yet it's akin to a comprehensive hard drive, housing experiences and interpretations from conception to the present. While the ego endures, a deeper aspect known as the higher self emerges gradually, connected to the present moment and the breath. In contrast, the lower self, driven by self-centered anxieties, embodies negative traits and may harm itself or the world. The higher self embodies peace and imparts valuable teachings, cautioning that eloquent speech doesn't guarantee true understanding or righteous teaching. Thus, as students, we must be vigilant and discerning, not blindly following charismatic masters.
